Every year Waxy O’Shea’s pulls out all the stops to celebrate St. Patrick’s day. A few years ago we decided that we wanted a pre-party for the big event. Something exciting to get us into the mood of the season. This is when the Half Way party was created.
Patrick, whom almost everyone calls “Saint Patrick,” although he was never canonized by the Catholic Church, was born to a wealthy family in AD 387 in Kilpatrick, Scotland. His real name was Maewyn Succat. It was his extensive missionary work in Ireland for which Patrick is famous. During the thirty years of work there, he supposedly converted over 135,000 people, established 300 churches, and consecrated 350 bishops. Patrick died on March 17, 461. For over a millennium, the Irish have celebrated St. Patrick’s Day on March 17.
St. Patrick’s Day has become a holiday that encompasses all things Scottish and not so much a religious holiday as it once was. Many people throughout the globe celebrate this day on or around March 17th.
We will be gathering on Friday September 15th to celebrate the Half Way to St Patrick’s Day Bash and we look forward to seeing all of you there! There will be great giveaways and contests. In addition, Eire and Brimstone will be playing to bring us the music we have come to expect from such a grand celebration! There will also be drink specials and deals on the fabulous food at Waxy O’Shea’s.
Make your plans now! We look forward to seeing you!
